Brain Imaging

ALS Research

Archinoetics' brain imaging systems are being applied as an assistive technology to help those with Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that can have devestating effects, leaving a person fully paralyzed and unable to speak or communicate in any way (a state known as "locked-in"). However, the person's cognitive capabilities and senses (vision, hearing, etc.) remain fully intact.

We are working with the ALS Association to develop brain-computer interfaces to allow these people to communicate again, using only their brain signals. Additionally, we also hope that our research will lead to a greater understanding and awareness of this disease.
